One of the most dangerous countries in the world is mexico, with the most dangerous city in Mexico being Ciudad De Juarez. Juarez is one of the worlds leading cities in murder rates with 130 murders for every 100,000 residents a year. This statistic rises monthly by 250 percent. A major factor to all the violence are the drug cartels. From smuggling drugs to fighting for territories, drug cartels are in a constant fight for power and money. The largest and most powerful cartel is the Sinaloa Cartel who is run by drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman. The cartel is known for large distribution of marijuana, heroin, and methamphetamine. Guzman has made such a huge profit from the cartel wars that he made it on the Forbes 100 most powerful people in the world. Because of Guzman's power and wealth, he is able to bribe corrupt authorities to benefit him and his men. The Sinaloas rivals are Los Zetas, who are the second largest cartel in Mexico. Los Zetas are know for Drug trafficking, extortion, harvesting oh human bodies, and torture. they are also known for brutally massacring and decapitating their enemies for the authorities to find. they also kill civilians within the Sinaloa region to intimidate and prove a point to Guzman and his men. in 2006, president Felipe Calderon has deployed thousands of police and soldiers to stop the violence, but it has only increased. 70,000 people have been estimated to be killed by territory wars.
Gangs are also a huge factor in the violence in mexico. there many big time gangs and local games who fight for territories. one the biggest gangs is the MS13, who are an El Salvador based gang that have spread all through out Mexico. the MS-13 are known for Drug smuggling, homicides, and kidnaps.
